Palomar Knot

The strongest, simplest knot for braid to a hook or lure — the go-to for bass soft plastics.

How to tie it

  1. 1Double about 6" of line and pass the loop through the hook eye.
  2. 2Tie a loose overhand knot with the doubled line (hook hangs in the middle).
  3. 3Pass the hook completely through the loop.
  4. 4Wet it and pull both ends to cinch down neatly; trim the tag.

Common mistakes

  • Not passing the hook fully through the loop
  • Lines crossing inside the knot

When not to use it

Very large lures that won't fit through the loop.
