Tying mono or fluorocarbon to a hook, lure, or swivel — the classic first knot.
line-to-hookBeginnerStrength 3/5monofilamentfluorocarbon
How to tie it
- 1Pass the tag end through the hook eye.
- 2Wrap the tag around the standing line 5–7 times.
- 3Bring the tag back through the small loop just above the eye.
- 4Then pass it through the big loop you just formed.
- 5Wet the knot and pull the standing line to cinch it down; trim the tag.
Common mistakes
- Not wetting the knot (heat weakens it)
- Too few wraps on heavy line
When not to use it
Braided line — it slips. Use a Palomar or Uni instead.
