Rapala Knot

A non-slip loop designed for hard baits (like Rapala plugs) so the lure wobbles freely.

How to tie it

  1. 1Tie a loose overhand knot in the line.
  2. 2Pass the tag through the lure eye and back through the overhand knot.
  3. 3Wrap the tag around the standing line 3 times.
  4. 4Bring the tag back through the overhand knot, then through the new loop just formed.
  5. 5Wet, set the loop, and cinch; trim.

Common mistakes

  • Loop closes when cinched (defeats the purpose)
  • Skipping the final loop pass

When not to use it

When you want a snug connection rather than free swing.
