Albright Knot

Joins two very different diameter lines — like braid to heavy mono, or mono to wire.

How to tie it

  1. 1Make a loop in the heavier line; pass the lighter line through it.
  2. 2Wrap the lighter line back over both legs of the loop 10 times, working toward the loop's end.
  3. 3Feed the lighter line back out through the loop the same side it entered.
  4. 4Wet, seat the wraps, and trim.

Common mistakes

  • Too few wraps on slick braid
  • Wraps sliding off the loop end

When not to use it

When you want the thinnest braid-to-leader knot — use FG/Alberto.
