Drop Shot Rig
A finesse rig with the weight below and the hook tied up the line, suspending a small plastic just off the bottom. Deadly on pressured bass and light-biting fish.
When to use it

- Suspended/light-biting fish
- Deep, clear water
Strengths
- Keeps bait in the strike zone off the bottom
- Extremely effective on pressured fish
- Great bite detection
Weaknesses
- Light-tackle finesse — not for heavy cover
- Tangles if the tag is too long
Key facts
Best species: Largemouth/smallmouth bass, panfish
Common mistakes
- Weight too heavy to feel bites
- Hook tied on wrong so it points down
