- Baitcaster, 7.1:1 gear ratio
- Main line
- 15–20 lb fluorocarbon or 30–50 lb braid + fluoro leader
- Leader
- 12–20 lb fluorocarbon (if using braid main)
- Hook
- 3/0–4/0 offset worm (EWG) hook
- Rig
- Texas rig with a 1/8–3/8 oz bullet weight
- Lure / bait
- Soft plastic worm, craw, or creature bait
- Knot
- Palomar knot (best for braid to hook)
