How to tie it
- 1Pass the tag through the eye and along the shank, leaving a loop hanging below the hook.
- 2Wrap the loop around the shank and line 6–8 times, working toward the eye.
- 3Hold the wraps and pull the standing line to draw the loop tight against the shank.
- 4Seat the wraps neatly and trim the tag.
Common mistakes
- Wraps overlapping instead of neat
- Snelling an eye that isn't inline for circle hooks
When not to use it
Lures — it's a bait-hook knot.
