Dropper Loop

Creates a standing loop in the middle of a line for a hook or sinker — the basis of high-low and multi-hook bottom rigs.

How to tie it

  1. 1Form a loop in the line where you want the dropper.
  2. 2Wrap the loop around the standing line 5–7 times, keeping an opening in the middle.
  3. 3Push the loop through that middle opening.
  4. 4Wet and pull both standing ends to seat the loop so it stands out perpendicular; trim if needed.

Common mistakes

  • Loop lies flat instead of standing out
  • Too few wraps (slips)

When not to use it

When you want a swiveling dropper (use a three-way swivel instead).
