Arbor Knot
Attaches your line (or backing) to the reel spool so it can't spin freely.

How to tie it
- 1Wrap the line around the spool arbor.
- 2Tie an overhand knot around the standing line.
- 3Tie a second overhand knot in the tag end (as a stopper).
- 4Pull the standing line so the first knot slides to the spool and the stopper jams against it; trim.
Common mistakes
- Forgetting the stopper knot (slips)
- Not adding backing under slick braid (braid spins on the spool)
When not to use it
Nowhere else — it's only for spooling up.
